03/18/2026 Meet River
River’s story is as heartfelt as her spirit. She and her housemate Deacon came to rescue after their loving owner—recently diagnosed with early-onset dementia and coping with the loss of his wife—made the difficult decision to surrender them. While River and Deacon aren’t bonded, they’ve shared much of their lives together, and it would mean so much to see them adopted as a pair.
River is a stunning 4‑year‑old Great Dane with a joyful, lively personality. She has a bit more energy than your typical laid‑back Dane and loves to be part of the fun. Whether she’s chasing a ball, exploring the yard, or simply being near her people, River brings warmth and happiness wherever she goes.
Playtime is her favorite part of the day—especially a good game of fetch—but once she’s had her fun, she’s more than happy to settle down and unwind with her family. Her sweet nature and affectionate heart shine through in everything she does.
River gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats, making her a good match for many types of homes. She thrives when she’s involved in family life, surrounded by people who enjoy playing, interacting, and sharing their days with her. If you’re looking for a dog who balances energy with affection and fun with loyalty, River could be the perfect addition to your home.
