Pongo

Adopted May 2026

05/31/026 Pongo’s journey to his forever home began with the bright, eager curiosity of a Great Dane–Dalmatian mix who was ready for the world — he just needed the right family to step into it with him. That family turned out to be the Saksena’s and their beloved senior dog, Simon.

The Saksena’s have always believed in rescue. Years ago, they adopted Simon — a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Mastiff mix — when he was just three months old. They raised him with patience, structure, and love, guiding him through puppyhood with positive reinforcement, clicker training, and a consistent routine. Now eight years old and 130 pounds of gentle steadiness, Simon has become the heart of their home.

Mrs Saksena’s childhood was filled with rescue dogs — a Basset Hound/Lab mix, a Springer Spaniel, and a Feist mix — all of whom lived long, happy lives. Losing them to old age reinforced her commitment to giving every dog in her care the best possible life. That commitment is what brought the family back to rescue when they felt it was time to add a young companion who could bring energy, joy, and new adventures into their home.

And then they met Pongo.

From the moment they saw him, they knew he was something special. Sweet, social, and full of puppy charm, he seemed destined to grow up alongside the kids — two little boys with big imaginations and even bigger hearts. The family fell in love instantly.

But the real magic happened when they brought him home.

As soon as Pongo stepped inside, Simon lit up. This wise old soul, who had spent years being the only dog, suddenly transformed into a puppy again. He bowed, tail wagging wildly, then rolled onto his back in a full, joyful invitation to play. It was as if he had been waiting for this moment — for a friend, a student, a little brother.

Pongo responded with equal enthusiasm, and the two bonded immediately. That first play session set the tone for everything that followed: a home filled with laughter, zoomies, gentle guidance, and the unmistakable joy of a perfect match.

It didn’t take long for the boys to give Pongo his new name — Marshall, inspired by their favorite Paw Patrol character. It fit him instantly: brave, loyal, energetic, and ready for every adventure.

Today, Marshall is thriving. He has two little humans who adore him, a big brother who teaches him the ropes, and parents who are deeply committed to giving him the long, happy life every rescue dog deserves. His days are filled with playtime, training, cuddles, and the kind of love that transforms a rescue pup into a cherished family member.

Marshall didn’t just find a home. He found a family who celebrates him, learns with him, and loves him completely.

And for the Saksenas, welcoming Marshall wasn’t just an adoption — it was the beginning of a beautiful new chapter for everyone, including Simon, who now has a best friend to share his days with.

05/21/2026 Meet Pongo, a handsome 10-week-old Great Dane/Dalmatian mix with a whole lot of charm packed into one spotted pup! Easygoing and affectionate, Pongo is already crate and potty trained and making solid progress on leash walking. He loves a good play session — romp, chew, repeat — but is just as happy lounging nearby for belly scratches when the excitement winds down. Of course, at 10 weeks old his personality is still unfolding, so what we can say for certain is that he’s adaptable, sweet-natured, and eager to bond. With the right family and consistent love, Pongo has every ingredient to become an absolutely wonderful dog.

04/25/2026 Pongo is an adorable and very sweet black half Dane, half Dalmation puppy (DNA tested) who came to MAGDRL with10 of his littermates. He is the most affectionate and cuddly boy and sits and watches you waiting for you to give him some love. He is crate trained and learning to potty outside. He is learning to walk on a leash. Training will be a requirement of his adoption as well as a neuter contract. Pongo will be ready to be adopted once he finishes all of his puppy shots
