02/21/2026 Duke (4‑year‑old male) and Lulu (3‑year‑old female) are a loving, playful pair who have been thriving in their foster home for nearly two months. Both are affectionate, people‑oriented, and enjoy spending time together—whether playing, lounging, or keeping an eye on the world from the front window.
Lulu is the more mischievous of the two and loves to play, shred toys, and cuddle close, while Duke is laid back and happy to soak up attention with his head in your lap. They share a sweet bond and often nap curled up together, though they can also amuse you with their sibling‑like bickering.
While it would be wonderful for them to stay together, they could be adopted separately into homes with another dog and/or plenty of people to give them the love and attention they enjoy.
01/07/2026 Meet Duke & Lulu – Bonded Best Friends
Lulu pink collar (3-year-old spayed female, DOB 11/26/2022) and Duke green collar (4-year-old male, DOB 9/4/2021)are a bonded Great Dane pair who recently lost both their owner and their home. After so many changes in a short time, they are looking for a stable, loving family who can offer them security, structure, and plenty of attention.
Duke is the strong, silent type who prefers to sit back, observe, and take his cues from Lulu. He warms up to new people quickly and has a calm, steady presence once he feels secure. Lulu is affectionate and playful but needs a little time to feel comfortable with new faces before her sweet, goofy side really shines.
Both dogs are very people-oriented, love attention, and are eager to please. They would do well in a home that enjoys interactive dogs who want to be involved in daily family life.
Both Lulu and Duke travel very well in the car.
They are crate trained and settle nicely in their crates when needed.
They have lived peacefully with several inside/outside cats.
They are reported to have a high prey drive and do not do well with small dogs such as Chihuahuas.
Their current caretakers note that Lulu and Duke listen reasonably well but would benefit from reinforcement of general manners and continued leash training. A structured environment with clear, consistent expectations will help them thrive.
Lulu and Duke have only had limited exposure to children, interacting a few times with a 12-year-old nephew. Because of their size, energy, and prey drive, they will be best suited to:
An adult-only home or one with dog-experienced older children.
A family committed to keeping them together as a bonded pair.
Adopters who can provide time, training, and daily engagement.
If you are looking to add a pair of lovable, entertaining, in-your-face Danes to your family, Lulu and Duke may be the perfect match. Keep an eye out for updates as they continue to settle into rescue and show more of their wonderful personalities.
