Oakley – Rescue in need

01/09/2026 Oakley joined our care on December 13th, and it’s been wonderful watching this sweet boy come back to life. When he first arrived, he was strong but underweight and always searching for food—now he’s known in his foster home as the “cookie tin bandit,” having mastered the art of creative snacking! With gentle correction and consistency, Oakley has learned his manners beautifully and become a loving, affectionate companion who just wants to be part of the family. As the weeks went by, Oakley began to settle beautifully into a routine. He responds well to gentle correction—an “ah-ah” or “no-no” is usually all it takes to stop the mischief.

He gets along wonderfully with his foster sister, Dora, another MAGDRL alum. They play, nap, and relax  together, Oakley always respects her boundaries. His joyful energy and gentle nature brighten every day.

Oakley has faced several medical challenges, including Addison’s disease, pancreatic insufficiency, an enlarged heart, and chronic ear issues. He’s receiving ongoing care and daily medications and is steadily gaining weight. Despite these hurdles, Oakley’s tail never stops wagging—he’s full of love, gratitude, and resilience.

12/15/20250 Oakley came into rescue through a veterinary office. He is a very under weigh, neutered 5 1/2 yrs old and will need time to decompress. He is unknown to young children however, his is good with children 11 years and up. He appears to like all dogs of every size and shape and loves to play with them. He is not aware of his size so he will need direction when playing to rough. He will have a training contract as he loves to go for walks however, if given enough lead he will pull you over. He is unknown with cats. If you have a home that would like to meet this boy and are willing to give him a couch to sleep on let us know.
