10/22/2026 From stray to farm life—George is HOME! 

George, formerly known as Sequoia, has quite a story to tell! His journey appears to have started in Ohio, where he was rehomed before making his way to Virginia with a new family. Exactly how he ended up as a stray remains a mystery, but his next chapter began when he came to MAGDRL from Prince George Animal Shelter.

Very skinny but full of joy, George was a playful, happy boy who needed a little help finding his footing—and plenty of people stepped up! Holly met him and completed his evaluation, and Tracy and Holly transported him to Peace of Mind Kennel in Woodbridge. He did wonderfully there, and when winter proved a little too chilly, Jahmilla stopped in for visits and helped him stay cozy with a new coat! 

Then came foster life with Katharine, where George was spoiled with love, walks, and the one-on-one attention that helped his personality shine.

Today, we’re thrilled to share that George has found his forever home with the Navarrete family! He has a canine brother and a whole farm crew—including chickens, a donkey, and a horse—to enjoy!

His path to happily-ever-after included a few bumps. George struggled with some food-related challenges, possibly connected to his time as a stray. With his family’s commitment and a two-week training program, he truly blossomed. Now he’s loving life and settling into his next great adventure!

05/05/2026 Sequoia, affectionately known as George, continues to make wonderful progress! He’s getting much better with his Gentle Leader and truly enjoys his walks—especially when he can pause to investigate and sniff the leaves on trees and bushes along the way.

George has never met a stranger and absolutely loves everyone he encounters, whether young or old. His friendly, outgoing personality makes him a joy to take anywhere. He’s also a great car companion and rides calmly, making him an easy travel buddy.

At home, George is all about the snuggles. If given the chance, he’d happily spend the entire day in your lap—he’s a big, affectionate cuddle bug who thrives on love and connection.

03/26/2026 Since being in his foster home, Sequoia; who goes by George, has shown to be house broken, loves laying on a couch, and knows some commands. He gets the zoomies about once every 2-3 days, loves walks (though does not care for the Gentle Leader) and sniffing in the yard. He loves car rides as well! Sequoia AKA George has a few favorite toys that he loves to play with and sometimes likes to play tug of war with them!  If you want a big cuddle bug George is your guy!

03/10/2026 FOSTER FOUND! Now that he is in a foster home he is settling in nicely, enjoys his mid-day dog walker and is completely trust worthy left out of a crate.

02/25/2026 Meet Sequoia: A Survivor Ready for a Second Chance

Sequoia didn’t have the easiest start. Found as a stray, he was so hungry that he survived on anything he could find—even sauce packets (found in his stomach during his neuter). But those days of starvation are behind him. Though he’s still working on reaching his goal weight, his spirit is bigger than his frame.

He is a social butterfly at doggy daycare and gets along great with non-dominant dogs. Because of his history, he’s currently a “student” in training, learning that he never has to worry about his next meal again. He’s looking for a patient family who will celebrate his progress and offer him the unconditional love he’s been searching for.
