Fern – Rescue in need!

Arrived November 2025

02/10/2026 Fern is an exceptionally sweet, gentle, quiet dog. She has adjusted nicely to her foster home. She was very shut down when she arrived about 3 months ago, and just wanted to stay in her crate. Now she rarely goes in it. She’s learned to navigate stairs and walks very well on a leash, although she’s not up for long distances. She enjoys meeting people and has made friends with a nearby dog. She loves to sleep in the sun and knows where the best spots are at different times of the day. She also likes to be where her foster parents are, and will follow them around the house. She’s very food motivated and has learned commands easily.

Her initial wounds are mostly healed, but she does have arthritis in at least one leg, and takes medication to help with that. She has very dry eyes which require prescription drops or ointment daily. She also takes a B-12 supplement to help maintain her weight.
Fern is a very easy dog and is just so sweet! She has learned to enjoy life, and will make someone an excellent companion.

01/10/2026 Fern has had unexpected medical issues since coming into rescue, aside from healing her two severe wounds in her front and rear leg, she has a mast cell tumor that will need to be removed and needs additional diagnostic testing before surgery because of weight loss, lethargy, diarrhea and vomiting. Fern needs every chance at getting healthy so she can become adoptable, in her current health, she is not. Please help us help Fern.

Fern is a 6 year old blue female with natural ears who came in from a shelter after being retrieved from a hoarder. She was in rough shape when she got to the shelter but they did a great job of getting her vetted and putting some weight on her. She is learning to be house trained in her foster home. She is crate trained. She walks well on a leash and loves her walks. Fern does have some wounds on two of her feet that are still healing and will take some time to heal. She is not available yet for adoption as we need to see these wounds close up more before she can go on to a forever home. Fern also has scar tissue on her muzzle, it looks like she has a black mask but there is no fur and it will probably never grow back. It doesn’t take away from what a pretty girl she is. Fern was extremely fearful when she first came in to rescue, but with love and care she is slowly learning to trust her foster family. We can’t wait to see her blossom into the beautiful and loving companion she was meant to be.
