Stella came into MAGDRL in August when a worker at a Bergen County shelter asked me if we could take her in.
She personally paid for her boarding at a kennel until we could evaluate her and bring her into a foster home (We did reimburse her for her patience). NJ volunteer/foster home Courtney agreed to foster Stella. The shelter worker transported her all the way to Courtney’s home, a 2 hour drive for her, but she was very grateful we took Stella in and out of the shelter and the kennel where she was being housed. I did her evaluation and Stella is lovely, a beautiful black, playful and loving Dane. She did great with Courtney’s two small girls and her small senior Maltese girl. She was also great with Courtney’s other foster Danes that came in while she was there.
Diana and Paula had reached out to me with a very young family looking for a Dane to adopt. They were interested in Domino but she was already spoken for. So when Stella came in, I knew she would be great for the MD family they sent to me.
Stella was fully vetted and ready to meet a forever home. Yesterday, The Swears family of MD drove to meet Stella and fell in love. Stella went home with a great family, thank you Diana and Paula for sending them our way! And huge thanks to Courtney, Tate, Nora and Daisy for another successful foster!
Stella is a 1 year old natural eared black Great Dane whose soul seems stitched together from pure love and loyalty. Her mission in life is simple: to be by your side and remind you—often with a head in your lap or a well-placed bum block—that you are deeply loved. She greets the world with softness and open-heartedness, befriending every creature she meets, even if they don’t quite know what to do with her persistent affection.
Though young at heart, Stella is no troublemaker. Her idea of mischief is stealing a shoe—not to chew, but to snuggle and savor its delightfully terrible scent. She’s not one to swipe food from the table, but she’ll gently rest her head on your arm mid-bite, eyes wide with hope and charm.
Give her a backyard and she’ll gallop like a baby giraffe discovering its legs, all limbs and joy. One day, she’ll grow into the graceful black beauty she’s destined to be—but for now, she’s perfect just the way she is. Training and a spay agreement will be part of her adoption contract.
