Always a pleasure to announce an adoption and I am happy to report that Luna has found her forever home.
Luna was surrendered to the VA chapter when her owner was losing his home, she came to NJ to be fostered by Trisha in South Jersey. Big thanks to the VA chapter for their work in getting not just Luna but her sibling BFG into MAGDRL and trusting us in NJ to them her wonderful homes. I also want to thank Dale and Sandy for evaluating them and doing their surrender and first let of their transport. Thanks to road warriors Paula and Domenick for doing legs 2 and 3 of the transport. I was there when Luna and BFG arrived in NJ and they were so stressed and scared that day.
Luna was so poorly socialized in her former home. Trisha worked on building Luna’s confidence with training and showing her the love and attention she craves. She took her to some training sessions with Rob at the training center, Hanlon’s K9, who helped show her the exercises that would help her with her confidence. Trisha worked diligently with her. Luna has blossomed with Trisha and is a different dog than when she came in. She is still shy at first but warms up quickly and gives kisses once she comes to you to say hi. Luna was adopted by the Moritz family of New York. Big thanks to the NY volunteers who helped get this family thru the application process. Thanks to Karen in NJ who has added NY to her reference checks now. Thank you Pat for your help getting all of this coordinated for NY.
The Moritz family with their two Standard Poodles, Ziggy and Potato all traveled last night to meet Luna. I was happy to be there to help with intros and the adoption contract. Ed came along too! It was so nice to see the match made, the Moritz family have Dane experience and could not wait to take Luna home. Trisha could not hold back her tears watching this sweet girl go on to her forever home. Well done Trisha, you gave Luna a wonderful gift, you are a great foster mom. As we always say, it takes a village and once again we have proven that to be the case. I will miss visiting Luna in Trisha’s home and taking her to the vet when she needed to go. She is such a lovely girl, the Moritz family got a gem for sure. Have a wonderful life Luna. She is now a New Yorker!
Luna is a 1 year old brindle female given up when her owner was losing his home. She was surrendered with her sibling and came from a home with multiple dogs. She is dog and child friendly. Luna is a timid girl at first but once she warms up she is affectionate and sweet. She just needs a little time to feel comfortable to come to you. Luna is crate trained and house trained. She uses a doggie door in her foster home. She loves her stuffies and zoomies in the yard. Her foster mom has been taking her for obedience training and it has been helping her with her confidence. Luna would do best with another canine in the home or someone who is home often. Luna is a gem and will be a wonderful addition to the right family who is willing to continue her training and building her confidence. A training contract will be required with her adoption..
