Adoption Costs

The majority of dogs entering the care of Rescue come in needing all the basic vetting their owners should have provided, but didn’t. There are always exceptions, but this is a basic breakdown for any Danes cared for in PA & DE. Costs may be higher or lower in your area.

Basic Vetting

  • Office Visit = $35-$50
  • Fecal Check = $14-$20
  • Rabies Shot = $14-$20
  • DHLPP = $14-$20
  • Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrliccia Test = $30-$45
  • Interceptor/Heartguard = $11 (one month dose)
  • Total Basic Vet Bill = $118-$166

Costs for Danes with Common Issues

Additional costs that may be incurred or illnesses that sometimes must be treated:

  • Spay/Neuter = $200-$400 (depends on size and age of dog)
  • Diagnosis of Wobbler’s Syndrome $150
  • Gold Bead Implants for Wobbler’s = $700-$900
  • Bloat Surgery = $200-$5000
  • Teeth Cleaning = $200
  • Happy Tail = $200-$500
  • Cherry Eye = $300-$500
  • Urinary Tract Infection = $60-$100
  • Heartworm Treatment = $300-$700
  • Lyme Disease = $60-$100

Additional Costs

This does not include the cost of food, nor any of the other “basics” like collar, leash, toys, and most of all TIME and LOVE. How can you put a price on those?
