MAGDRL’s fundraising cookbook "Great Danes in the Kitchen” is now available for $10.95.

"Great Danes in the Kitchen” is a collection of favorite recipes from MAGDRL members, family, friends and supporters. The cookbook features 299 mouth-watering recipes for humans and pets, including “Death by Chocolate Cheesecake”, “Cheesy Chicken Enchiladas”, “Beer and Herb Muffins”, “Triple Cherry Chocolate Pie”, “Ultimate Margarita” and “Canine Cookies”. Also included are baking and cooking tips and other helpful hints.

SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS

1 lb. ground chuck
2 eggs
1 pkt. Lipton dried onion soup mix
1 qt. canned tomatoes
1/2 c. breadcrumbs
1 sm. can cranberry sauce

Mix the ground chuck, soup mix, breadcrumbs, and eggs. Let mixture stand for about 15 minutes. If mixture is too moist to form the meatballs, add some more breadcrumbs. Shape and brown the meatballs in a frying pan. In a separate sauce pan, place the canned tomatoes and add the cranberry sauce. Simmer tomatoes and cranberry sauce until sauce melts and liquid is very hot. Place the meatballs in the sauce and simmer for an additional 15 minutes. Serve over rice or homemade mashed potatoes
