| MAGDRL's
Board of Directors - 2011 Fundraising & Grants Candidate
Lisa Daum
Location: North Carolina
Rescue Experience: I became an active volunteer with MAGDRL in 2007 as a member of the Southern Virginia Chapter and transferred over to the Eastern North Carolina Chapter in 2008. Ready to jump right in, I started out as a foster parent and have fostered 34 danes to date. I have a soft spot for deaf, vision impaired and special need danes.
Since becoming an active member of MAGDRL, I have volunteered in the areas of phone interviews, home visits, evaluations, transports and fundraising. In December of 2008, I became one of the Adoption Team Leaders for Eastern North Carolina and am now a Matchmaker as well. I ensure that each potential adopter receives a telephone call or email response within 24 hours and take them through the entire process from start to finish. As one of the ENC Event Coordinators, I have scheduled approximately 38 events which has raised $9,300 for our orphan danes. This past year, I have also been teaming with the Southern Virginia Chapter. I host events on the Southside and split the proceeds with the donated proceeds with the Southern Virginia Chapter. Actively supporting the other Event Coordinators, I travel all over ENC/SC to support their events. In March 2011, I took over the responsibility of the Inkjet/cell phone fundraising for MAGDRL.
Originally, the lone volunteer in Camden, NC, I have been actively recruiting volunteers and now have 4 new foster families in my area.
Special Skills: I retired from the Navy in 2006 and am currently an Administrative Assistant working for the United States Government. I am also an active member of the VFW Post 6060 Ladies Auxiliary. I was recently elected as the treasure and am the Co-Coordinator on the Fundraising Committee. I have excellent communication, organizational and management skills. I am also very crafty, I make merchandise to sell at meet and greet events and sew winter fleece jackets for our fosters that need them.
Motto: "Each foster touches your heart, but the deafies take a piece of your heart with them!"
Vision for MAGDRL: For MAGDRL to continue to grow as an organization and provide a better future for the many homeless danes that come into our rescue. To see each Chapter work together in fundraising for MAGDRL as well as increase public awareness where ever possible.
