Kristeen Kohrs

Rescue Experience: Kristeen’s first exposure to MAGDRL was in 2005 at a local event. Her Mom had had a Great Dane mix when she was young and Kristeen has always loved the breed. Kristeen became a MAGDRL member in 2006. In 2007 Kristeen adopted her 1st Great Dane, Torre, and became a MAGDRL volunteer shortly after that. Torre is a certified therapy dog. In addition to regular therapy dog visits to a local nursing home and a private patient with Torre, Kristeen’s second adopted MAGDRL Dane, Alex is a frequent M&G ambassador. Kristeen has worked with MAGDRL in the areas of reference checks, home evaluations, meet & greets as well as being a foster home. In 2008, Kristeen assumed the job of tag administrator for the Northern NJ chapter and took on the role of follow-up coordinator. In 2010 Kristeen was appointed as Assistant Coordinator for Northern New Jersey.

Special Skills: Kristeen is currently president of the 501(c)3 charity, NY/NJ Metropolitan Ferret Welfare Society (MetroFerret), a group that helps the ferret community by supporting area shelters and providing community education. Since joining MetroFerret in 2000, Kristeen has held various positions including corporate donations coordinator, treasurer, fundraising coordinator, and state Vice President. Kristeen’s positions working with this non-profit has provided her with a wide range of experiences all of which has given her unique insights into the needs and challenges of animal related charities. In her current position of President, Kristeen is responsible for all internal and outward facing communications for the club.

Kristeen currently works at Microsoft as a Technology Specialist and held a similar position at Oracle Corporation for eight years before joining Microsoft. Prior to her Oracle tenure, Kristeen worked as a Manager at Johnson & Johnson. For the past 23 years, Kristeen’s professional positions have required that she exhibit top-notch discovery, communication, writing and presentation skills all of which will be helpful in the position of secretary on the Board of Directors.

Vision for MAGDRL: Kristeen has always been impressed with the professionalism of MAGDRL and the passion of its volunteers. As a member of the board of directors, Kristeen hopes to continue to help support the members and volunteers of MAGDRL and the Danes they all work so hard for.
