MAGDRL's Board of Directors - Policy & Procedures Candidate
Kristeen Kohrs

Location: New Jersey

Rescue Experience: Kristeen’s first exposure to MAGDRL was in 2005 at a local event. Her Mom had had a Great Dane mix when she was young and Kristeen has always loved the breed. Kristeen became a MAGDRL member in 2006. In 2007 Kristeen adopted her 1st Great Dane, Torre, and became a MAGDRL volunteer shortly after that. Torre is a certified therapy dog. In addition to regular therapy dog visits to a local nursing home, Kristeen has worked with MAGDRL in the areas of reference checks, home evaluations, meet & greets as well as being a foster home.

Special Skills: Kristeen is currently president of the 501(c)3 charity, NY/NJ Metropolitan Ferret Welfare Society (MetroFerret), a group that helps the ferret community by supporting area shelters and providing community education. Since joining MetroFerret in 2000, Kristeen has held various positions including corporate donations coordinator, treasurer, fundraising coordinator, and state Vice President. Kristeen’s positions working with this non-profit has provided her with a wide range of experiences all of which has given her unique insights into the needs and challenges of animal related charities. In her current position of President, Kristeen has taken responsibility for updating many of the documents used in the day to day operations of MetroFerret.

For the past eight years Kristeen has worked as a Sales Consultant at Oracle. Prior to her Oracle tenure, Kristeen worked as a Manager at Johnson & Johnson. For the past 14 years, Kristeen’s professional positions have required that she exhibit top-notch discovery, communication writing and presentation skills all of which will be helpful in the Policies and Procedures position on the Board of Directors.

Motto: "Live as if you were to die tomorrow.  Learn as if you were to live forever."

Vision for MAGDRL: Kristeen has always been impressed with the professionalism of MAGDRL and the passion of its volunteers. As the Policies and Procedures member of the board Kristeen hopes to continue the evolution of current policies and procedures as well introducing new ones as needed to help support the volunteers and the Danes they all work so hard for.
