MAGDRL's Board of Directors - Volunteers Candidate
Kim VonWeltin

Location: Middletown, DE

Rescue Experience: I have been a member of MAGDRL since 2006, but came to a few Meet & Greets before that.  I have continued to be active at local Meet & Greets. My children, Evan and Eva, and I have also done Meet & Greets occasionally at our Concord Pet in town and hope someday to make that a regular outing. I also do as many Events, Transports, Home Checks and Evals (still a bit new at these) as possible. I have always tried to find ways to be more active in this great group. I was recently asked to be Volunteer Lead for the PA/DE Chapter.

Special Skills: I am very computer literate and what I don’t know, I can ask my husband, a Senior Consultant for Microsoft. My experience pertinent to this position includes working in the eye care field for 20 years, most of which was as a manager of the office. During my time I was instrumental in updating offices from paper to computer and updating existing computer systems to more advanced systems. I hope to use this experience to continue the progress already made to our Volunteer tracking system and to automate as much as possible to free up more time to personally contact the volunteers to keep them involved.

Motto: Don’t do anything by hand that a computer can do for you better. I believe strongly in conservation of energy so that there is more to go around for better personal interactions.

Vision for MAGDRL: This is already such a wonderful, dedicated group, I can only hope to be a useful part. As for the position itself, my goal is to make and keep everything updated with the most current information so if there is a need, I can quickly determine who, based on either location or stated talents would best fit the bill. I hope to expand what I am already doing for the local chapter as far as contacting those volunteers who have fallen off the grid and to continue plotting everyone on a map to ease finding someone by location. So much of the work for MAGDRL is done by the “Core Group” (you know who you are), I hope that by more personal contact, more often, we can expand the Core, not to mention increase membership dues collected.
