Rescue Experience:When I joined MAGDRL in 2008 I had no idea how involved I would become with this wonderful organization. I intended to just take Titan to an event every now and then to help raise money…now I’m out every weekend! Last July, I foster failed with Piper and she is my first official Dane. She is still very young and goofy, but has taught me a lot!

I try and help out where I am needed but I do have a few specific roles. I currently serve as a Matchmaker for NC and SC and truly enjoy working with families to find the perfect Dane for them! I am also a member of the Adoption Team and PR Team for NC and SC. Another task I have taken on is listing our adoptable Danes on Pets911 as well as two publications, Pawprints Magazine and Heart2Home Magazine. For two years in a row, I planned and organized Dealin’ for Danes, an ATV poker run to help raise money. As a member of the fundraising team, I help find new festivals and events for MAGDRL to attend. Recently, I have branched out and created an online store on Etsy.com so we can sell our handmade items. We have sold things from NY to GA! Making recycled magnets to sell is what you will find me doing on the weekends we don’t have an event! While I am not a professional photographer, I also enjoy taking pictures at our events and meet and greets. As a member of the Great Dane Club of Central North Carolina, I keep members informed of what we have going on and was recently appointed as Rescue Chair.

I feel my most important and rewarding position is fostering. As many others do, I also enjoy fostering the deaf/vision impaired Danes. There truly is something special about them and I feel they really can teach you quite a bit.

Special Skills: I am back in school now pursuing a paralegal degree and currently work as a records clerk at one of the largest law firms in North Carolina. I also volunteer at the animal shelter a few times a month. I help with anything from cleaning cages and walking the dogs to assisting with adoptions and educating the public on the importance of spay/neuter.

Motto: "Any woman who thinks diamonds are a girl’s best friend never had a dog."

Vision for MAGDRL: To be around another 30+ years and continue to rescue and rehabilitate as many Danes as possible.
